Workflow of hiPSC-based bipolar disorder research
Description
hiPSCs can be generated from cells from biological samples taken from healthy controls or patients. After taking samples, the adult somatic cells are reprogrammed to iPSCs by introducing Yamanaka factors. iPSCs proliferate to increase cell number and differentiate into progenitor cells and then neurons, oligodendrocytes, microglia or astrocytes. Subsequently, these cells can be used for disease modelling, precision medicine and high-throughput drug screening.
