Urocortin-2 (Ucn-2) Protects Against Myocardial Infarction
Description
This template was adapted from the original submission. Edits were made to enhance scientific accuracy, optimal usability and/or to meet industry-leading design standards for science communication.
Urocortin-2 (Ucn-2) is a potent cardioprotector against Ischemia/Reperfusion (I/R). We show a translational study for acute myocardial infarction using I/R rat model with Ligation Coronary Artery (LCA). The study is focused on Store Operated Ca2+ Entry (SOCE) which is a central mechanism in Ca2+ signalling. Orai1 and TRPC5 are store operated Ca2+ channels which are overexpressed and colocalizated in I/R. Ucn-2 is able to act on these pathways and is proposed as a new cardioprotector.
