TXTL: A Cell-Free Transcription/Translation Process

Description

This template was adapted from the original submission. Edits were made to enhance scientific accuracy, optimal usability and/or to meet industry-leading design standards for science communication. A cell-free transcription-translation (TXTL) system is able to transcribe RNA and generate proteins from circular or linear template DNA. This in vitro platform harnesses the transcriptional and translational machinery of E. coli and can be used for protein synthesis and purification. Additionally, the system can be used with a plate reader for analyses, such as testing CRISPR-Cas (e.g. Cas9) functionality in a GFP-based assay.
