Transcranial Doppler
Description
transcranial Doppler (TCD) is a non-invasive ultrasound technique used to measure blood flow velocity in the major cerebral arteries. TCD is utilized to assess cerebral hemodynamics, detect intracranial stenosis or occlusions, monitor for vasospasm following subarachnoid hemorrhage, and evaluate patients with suspected brain death. The procedure involves placing an ultrasound probe against the skull at specific windows to access the cerebral arteries.
