The possible routes of HIGS and SIGS molecules uptake in insects and fungi.
Description
SIGS molecules can take two pathways upon entry into the cell 1) long dsRNA/hpRNA molecules may process into siRNA molecules by the host itself 2) dsRNA/hpRNA may be ingested and processed by pest/pathogen RNAi machinery. Fungal pathogens soak up dsRNA molecules through haustorial complex. The dsRNA may be in the AGO-dsRNA complex form (left side). Different insect orders vary in their feeding pattern.
