The Advantages of Yeast Model System
Description
A visualization of advantages of using yeast as a model system to study neurodegenerative diseases such as Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), Huntington's disease. Many yeast genes have human homologs and the core cellular pathways are well conserved. Therefore it can be used to study pathways involved in dealing with misfolded and aggregated proteins allowing scientists to understand the diseases and treat the patients.
