Synthesis of Cerium oxide nanoparticles
Description
NaOH is gradually added into an aqueous solution of cerium (III) nitrate hexahydrate at room temperature with stirring and this reaction initiates the formation of cerium hydroxide nanoparticles. After completion of the reaction, the nanoparticles are separated by centrifugation, washed to remove impurities, and dried under vacuum. The cerium hydroxide nanoparticles undergo dehydration and thermal decomposition, resulting in the formation of cerium oxide nanoparticles.
