An editable high resolution scientific image depicting Structure of HER2 transmembrane glycoprotein

Structure of HER2 transmembrane glycoprotein

Description

In the extracellular part of the receptor, LD1 and LD2 are sections that bind to ligands. CR1 and CR2 are regions rich in cysteine, a type of amino acid. TM stands for transmembrane, indicating short sections that cross the cell membrane. TK refers to a catalytic tyrosine kinase, an enzyme that adds phosphate groups to tyrosine residues, a process called phosphorylation. CT is the carboxyl-terminal tail, a part of the protein structure. The circled Ps represent phosphorylation sites.
