Site-specific recombination
Description
Bacteriophage DNA is integrated into the bacterial genome to form a prophage through recombination between the attP site on the phage DNA and the attB site on the bacterial genome. The prophage can be excised from the host genome by reciprocal recombination between the attL and attR sites, restoring the phage DNA.
