Diagnostic qualitative analysis for faecal parasites: Centrifugal flotation technique
Description
Qualitative microscopic analysis of faecal samples is routinely performed in laboratory diagnostics.
1. Faeces, which must be fresh at the time of analysis, are collected.
2. Faeces are diluted in a mortar with a flotation solution.
3. The sample is filtered inside the tube.
4. Centrifuge 5 minutes at 1500 rpm
5. The tube is topped up with the solution until the formation of meniscus.
6. A drop is caught from the meniscus.
7. The slide is read under the microscope.
