An editable high resolution scientific image depicting Postsynaptic metabotropic glutamate receptor long term depression

Postsynaptic metabotropic glutamate receptor long term depression

Description

Activation of mGluRs modulate PLC, PP2A and PI3K. As a consequence, DAG and IP3 triggers the activation of FMRP, PKC and increase the Ca++ release from intracellular stores. On the other hand, PI3K activates both mTOR complexes 1 and 2 which modulates synaptic local translation, autophagy, lipid synthesis, mitochondrial function and cytoskeleton regulation. As a result, it favours the endocytosis of AMPARs and regulate translation process, ultimately contributing to reduced synaptic efficacy.
