Positive feedback loop mechanism between oxidative stress and NF-κB activation
Description
In the absence of stimulation, NF-κB is bound in the cytoplasm by the inhibitory protein IκBα. In monocytes and microglial cell lines, IκBα is degraded when cells are stimulated by, for example, lipopolysaccharide (LPS , LPS) or interferon γ (Interferon γ,IFN γ), releasing subunits of NF-κB, such as p65/RelA, which allow it to enter the nucleus and activate the expression of downstream genes, such as NOX2, and in the case of NOX2 expression is inhibited in cells overexpressing IκBα.
