Platelet induce metastasis via transfer of 12-lipoxygenase
Description
The interaction of platelets and cancer cells induces the release of microparticles containing 12-lipoxygenase, which is transferred to the cancer cells that generate 12-HETE. 12-HETE is then esterified to membrane phospholipids, and this phenomenon is associated with the acquisition of epithelial-mesenchymal transitions and migratory properties leading to metastasis.
