Plastic accumulation and production by regions of the world
Description
In 2022, 400.3Mt of plastic was produced globally and each percentage represents how much of it belongs to different parts of the world. Additionally, It is estimated that of all the plastic ever produced, and despite some having been incinerated and another having been recycled, most of it is accumulating around the globe. Thus the plastic waste comming from rivers is pushed by ocean currents and ends up giving rise to what are known as plastic islands (five that we know of).
