Phagosomal rupture induced by Mycobacterium tuberculosis in macrophages
Description
Phagocytosis of Mycobacterium tuberculosis by a macrophage, secreting ESAT-6 effectors through the ESX-1 secretion system to induce a lysis of the phagosome, and an inhibition of the phagolysosomal formation. Galectin-3, a cytoplasmic lectin can now enter the vacuole and fixate itself on the internalised glycans.
