Pain Processing Pathway in the Nervous System
Description
Sensory nerve fibres transmit pain signals from nociceptors in the periphery to the CNS. The dorsal horn is emphasized to signify the processing of nociceptive signals received from the periphery. Arrow depict the direction of nociceptive signal transmission from the periphery to the dorsal horn of the spinal cord and then to higher brain regions involved in pain perception and processing.
