Overview of the innate immune system
Description
The immune system is comprised of physical barriers (such as skin and mucosal membranes) and innate immune cells (dendritic cells, macrophages...). A limited pattern recognition receptors (PRRs), e.g. RIG-I, MDA5 and TLR3, that recognize a wide range of pathogens associated molecular patterns (PAMPs), initiating the pathway signaling and eventually resulting in the activation of innate immune cells.
