Organization of the Autonomic Nervous System
Description
This tripartite figure shows the organ-level, cellular-level, and molecular-level of the autonomic nervous system. This depicts where parasympathetic and sympathetic nerves exit the spine and reach their effector organs, then the relative length of autonomic nerves compared to somatic nerves and finally the effector organs they innervate. Lastly, this shows the types of receptors at each synapse (adrenergic, or nicotinic/muscarinic cholinergic)
