Site-directed mutagenesis was performed using the QuikChange Mutagenesis Kit (Agilent Technologies). Female adult Xenopus laevis isolated oocytes were provided by the European Xenopus Resource Centre (Portsmouth, UK) and defolliculated as described previously (Young et al., 2007)
