MKI67 expression and KI67 role in proliferation
Description
Elevated during the G2-M transition, Ki67 synthesis occurs shortly after initiation of mitosis. The peri-chromosomal layer consists of multiple nucleolar proteins. Ki67 is amongst the first proteins to be recruited to the peri-chromosomal compartments and is though tot serve a scaffold, indirectly organizing the layer . In its absence, complete depletion of the peri-chromosomal layer is observed, resulting in significant alterations to nucleolar morphology and nuclear organisation .
