MicroRNA-29 mediated regulation of insulin secretion.
Description
This template illustrates how miRNA-29 controls the process of insulin secretion. It achieves this by inhibiting the expression of the SPARC gene which enhances insulin secretion from the pancreas by suppressing the activity of RGS4. RGS4, in turn, inhibits a protein called M3 Gq, which activates the phospholipase C enzyme. This ultimately triggers the release of insulin into the bloodstream. However, microRNA-29 disrupts this mechanism.
