Mechanisms of the anticancer effects of SGLT2 inhibitors.
Description
This graph summarizes the anticancer mechanisms of SGLT2 inhibitors. SGLT2 inhibitors inhibit glucose uptake via SGLTs and GLUTs, reduce ATP production, and activate AMPK, which inhibits ACC, fatty acid synthesis, FOXA1, Shh, mTOR, and p70S6K, leading to suppressed protein synthesis and downregulated HIF-1α. They also inhibit the PI3K/AKT pathway, Hippo signaling via hnRNPK/YAP1 axis, and EGFR kinase, along with angiogenesis activators.
