Iron and Stress erythropoiesis
Description
During stress erythropoiesis, erythroblasts secrete erythroferrone (ERFE), which in turn blocks bone morphogenetic protein 6 (BMP6) in liver. The protein BMP 6 plays a role in hepcidin synthesis pathway results in reduced production of hepcidin. This leads to increased iron mobilization towards bone marrow for erythropoiesis.Transferrin (transports iron) levels marked by total iron binding capacity (TIBC) and erythropoietin levels escalated due to increased demand for erythroid synthesis.
