Infection of gut epithelium by Shigella flexneri
Description
A visulaization of infection of intestinal epithelial cells by the pathogenic bacterium Shigella flexnei. Shigella get transcytosed using epithelial M cells. Then bacteria internalized from the basolateral surface of the epithelium. Some bacteria are engulfed by macrophages.
