In Vitro Fertilization in Mice
Description
This template was adapted from the original submission. Edits were made to enhance scientific accuracy, optimal usability and/or to meet industry-leading design standards for science communication.
This figure depicts the Jackson Laboratory’s in vitro fertilization protocol. Female mice are intraperitoneally injected with pregnant mare serum gonadotropin (PMSG) and human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) to induce ovulation. Sperm from a euthanized male are capacitated prior to fertilization with ovulated oocytes from euthanized females. Ensuing embryos are cultured to the blastocyst stage, then transferred to the uterus of pseudopregnant recipients.
