Impact of systemic inflammation in oral cancer microenvironment in non-obese and obese conditions
Description
Left side of the panel: In lean individuals, the immune cells component of the adipose tissue is kept under homeostasis and, therefore, might exert less effect in the immune profile of the oral cancer microenvironment.
Right side of panel: In obese conditions, the immune infiltrate of adipose tissue systemically release pro-inflammatory cytokines that contribute to recruitment of immunosuppressive cells to tumor environment, and, therefore, turns the cancer less responsive to immunotherapy.
