Immunometabolic Pathways of Lean and Obese Adipose Tissue (AT)
Description
Intrinsic and extrinsic immunometabolic pathways are intricately linked in adipose tissue homeostasis and metabolic dysfunction associated with obesity. Four areas of research may provide potential therapeutic targets for the treatment of obesity and associated metabolic disease: Th2 immunity, macrophage iron handling, adaptive memory formation, and epigenetic regulation. These targets will likely influence immunometabolism, strengthening the potential for success as therapeutic targets.
