Functional roles of p97/VCP
Description
p97, aided by multiple cofactors, governs the degradation of diverse substrates spanning ER-associated, mitochondrial, chromatin-associated proteins, and specific cytosolic targets. Additionally, it manages protein aggregates, regulates intracellular signaling pathways, and controls proteasome-independent degradation within lysosomes by orchestrating protein sorting and autophagy.
