Dysregulation of tight junction proteins
Description
Tight junctions (TJs) represent the critical components of cellular architecture, forming essential barriers in epithelial and endothelial tissues. They regulate the passage of ions, solutes, and water, establishing a selective paracellular permeability and allowing the maintenance of distinct environments on either side of the barrier. If any dysregulation occurs in these tight junctions, then it leads to immune activation, inflammation and leads to cancer progression.
