Dictyostelium Life Cycle
Description
Life cycle of dictyostelid (cellular) slime moulds. In the sated state, they are just amoebae, but, when starved, they start an intricate developmental program including aggregation and formation of mound. Mound could, in turn, transform into a motile multicellular slug for a time being or proceed directly to further fruiting body formation. The stage of formation of a mature fruiting body is called culmination. The fruiting body sporulates, and its spores give rise to new amoebae.
