Dengue Virus Life Cycle
Description
Mature dengue viral particles bind to host cells and enter through endocytosis. Inside the cell, viral and endosomal membranes merge, releasing the viral genome. The viral RNA translates into proteins, which initiate replication. Dengue virus (DENV) proteins associate with cellular lipids and can be secreted. The virus matures in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) and is released from the host. Some released particles remain immature and non-infectious.
