Cysteine protease Cathepsins roles in promoting cancer (scheme)
Description
Tumorigenesis is promoted by Cathepsin E, F, G and Z. Proliferation by B, D, E, X, while X mediates EMT. Dissemination is induced by A, B, D. ECM proteins degradation by B, K, L and Z. During migration, motility and invasion is increased by B, D, H, L, S, and Z Cathepsins, which induces the tumor cells to invade surrounding tissue, blood- and lymph vessels in general an increased ability to metastasize. Newly formed tumor proliferation and angiogenesis is mediated by B, D, H, and S.
