Crosstalk Between Apoptosis & Autophagy
Description
Apoptosis and autophagy intertwine. DNA damage-induced P53 activation induces apoptosis and inhibits autophagy. Apoptosis can trigger/impede autophagy based on cell state. Mitochondrial disruption prompts apoptosis, affecting destiny. Few affected mitochondria activate autophagy, ensuring survival. More lead to apoptosis. Majority cause necrosis. Caspases activate/suppress autophagy. Autophagy reciprocally regulates apoptosis. Post-apoptosis, phosphatidylserine exposure signals autophagy.
