CRISPR/Cas9 Gene Editing

Description

This template was adapted from the original submission. Edits were made to enhance scientific accuracy, optimal usability and/or to meet industry-leading design standards for science communication. CRISPR/Cas9 is a powerful tool for genome engineering. The Cas9 complex with a sgRNA recognizes a specific sequence, the protospacer. This is only possible if this sequence is followed by a Protospacer Adjacent Motif (PAM). When Cas9 binds, a dsDNA break is generated. Now, Non-Homologous End Joining or Homology Directed Repair can occur, leading to mutations or gene changes, respectively.
