CRISPR-Cas9 Gene Editing Process
Description
CRISPR-Cas9 is a new area of biomedical science that enables gene editing. The Cas-9 (CRISPR-associated protein) binds with a SgRNA (single guide RNA), searching for the target DNA with the use of a protospacer. It is only possible if this target sequence is followed by a protospacer adjacent motif (PAM). 3 A double-stranded break. Then, non-homologous end-joining or homology-directed recombination can occur, leading to mutations or changes in the gene sequence.
