Cardiac remodeling in obesity
Description
The term "obesity cardiomyopathy" (OCM) is used to describe cardiac abnormalities that result solely from obesity. These abnormalities encompass various aspects of the heart, including structural, functional, and metabolic components. Regardless of whether the cardiac abnormalities are related to structural changes or electrophysiological remodeling, obesity is considered an independent contributing factor to the development of cardiac hypertrophy and contractile dysfunction.
