Bmi and its role in cellular senescence and cell cycle

Description

Bmi is an important protein when it comes to the process of cell cycle. The gene p16Ink4a can express in absence of Bmi and can block cell cycle progression thereby promoting cellular senescence ,on the other hand p16Ink4a can be blocked from expressing in presence of Bmi which helps in formation of cyclinD/Cdk4/6 complex which blocks binding of pRB to E2F and as a result E2F is free to act as a transcription factor helping in expression of genes involved cell cycle progression.
