Astrocyte activation dependence on matrix proteins
Description
Proposed classification scheme for activated astrocytes where activation is a function of both environmental context (ECM, which is itself a function of age, sex, diet, location in brain) and stimulus (nature, severity, time post insult). Although there is not yet data on which specific ECM proteins lead to specific activation states, we do know activation to be ECM-dependent.
