Anatomy of the Skin
Description
The skin, the body's largest organ, is composed of three primary layers. The outermost layer, the epidermis, provides a protective barrier against pathogens and environmental factors. Beneath lies the dermis, housing sweat and oil glands, hair follicles, nerves, and blood vessels. The innermost layer, the hypodermis, contains fat and cutaneous plexuses. Hair, muscles, and nerves in the skin contribute to sensory perception, thermoregulation, and UV protection. Collectively, these components ensure skin health, function, and resilience.
