Advantages of Using Virus-like Particles (VLPs) as Vaccine Platforms
Description
Virus-like particles (VLPs) have been used as stand-alone vaccines (e.g., the HPV vaccine Gardasil-9) and as platforms to enhance the immunogenicity of other targets. VLPs intrinsically display antigens in highly dense, repetitive arrays that are highly immunogenic to the immune system, particularly B cells. This figure depicts some of the advantages of using VLPs as vaccine platforms.
