Extracellular Matrix (ECM) Sequestering Peptides
Description
Synthetic matrices offer a high degree of control and flexibility in mimicking the extracellular matrix (ECM) functions of native tissue. However, they are inert and inefficient at retaining cell-secreted extracellular molecules.
Through functionalization of degradable poly(ethylene glycol) hydrogels with ECM-sequestering peptides, the synthetic matrices can be made more effective at recreating cell-matrix interactions, and thus more capable of recapitulating the native ECM composition.
